Babington Business College has certainly lived up to its motto of Learn, Earn, Achieve and Progress (LEAP) when it achieved a Grade 2 for its Overall Effectiveness by Ofsted inspectors recently, also achieving recognition for consistently high success rates over a significant number of years, along with a clear vision and strategy for developing provision.
The inspection team reported that the staff and managers set high standards and are well qualified and experienced and committed to improving the provision. They also acknowledged the good links with employers and external agencies that provide a high standard of employment and training opportunities for learners.
Managing Director Carole Carson is absolutely delighted. “All the tutors, staff and managers at Babington work so hard to deliver training that makes a real difference to the lives of our learners and provide employers with staff that are confident, capable and become an important part of their workforce. The training we offer is the start of an amazing journey and its wonderful that this has been acknowledged. That journey has been extremely hard work and we are so fortunate to have such dedicated, committed and passionate staff - it’s been a real team effort”.
Other areas the Inspectors highlighted were:
- An average of 85% of the accounting learners progressed to higher level qualifications over the last three years.
- The range of courses and level of programmes meet the needs and interests of learners very well.
- Training programmes are good value for money.
- The overall success rate and success rate for learners completing are above the national average and are high.
- Learners develop good personal, social and employability skills. They have high levels of competence. Most learners are widening their job roles and are progressing to higher levels of responsibility.

- Operation management is very effective.
Carole Carson went on to say, “this report provides yet more evidence that apprenticeships are a fantastic route into employment and provide not only the training to help learners increase their skill levels but also confidence and real opportunities for career progression”.
